Terms of Service.

Effective May 19, 2026. The terms that govern use of stepwellcenter.com, including the no-medical-advice disclaimer, emergency guidance, and the laws that govern any dispute.

Effective date: May 19, 2026. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of stepwellcenter.com and any subdomains, pages, or features we operate (collectively, the "Site"). The Site is owned and operated by The Stepwell Center, LLC ("The Stepwell Center," "we," "our," or "us"), a Texas limited liability company. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Use of the Site is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle information collected through the Site and the related intake process.

What the Site is and is not

The Site is an informational and outreach resource for The Stepwell Center, an outpatient mental health and substance use treatment center in Lakeway, Texas. The Site describes our programs, our diagnostic services, the conditions we treat, our location, and how to reach us. It is not the delivery of care.

Clinical care at The Stepwell Center begins only after admission, after a comprehensive assessment, and through direct work with our licensed clinicians. Nothing on the Site, including responses to inquiries submitted through the Site, constitutes clinical care or the formation of a treatment relationship.

No medical advice

The Site and its content are provided for general informational purposes. Content on the Site is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, or other professional advice and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed clinician who has assessed your specific circumstances. Do not act or refrain from acting on the basis of anything you read on the Site without seeking advice from a qualified professional. Reliance on Site content is at your own risk.

No provider-patient relationship

Use of the Site, including submitting a contact form, calling our admissions line, or exchanging emails about scheduling and benefits, does not create a physician-patient, psychologist-patient, therapist-patient, or other licensed-clinician-patient relationship. A clinical relationship with The Stepwell Center is established only after admission and through the documents and consents you sign at intake.

Emergencies

The Site is not designed for and cannot respond to medical or psychiatric emergencies.

  • If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, in a medical crisis, or at risk of serious harm, call 911 right now.
  • If you or someone you know is in suicidal crisis or emotional distress, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which is free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day. Chat is available at 988lifeline.org.
  • Do not use the Site, the contact form, or email as a substitute for emergency services. Messages sent through the Site are not monitored continuously and may not be reviewed in time to respond to a crisis.

Eligibility and authorized use

The Site is intended for adults in the United States. By using the Site, you represent that you are at least eighteen years of age or that you are using the Site under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Patient care for minors is arranged through our admissions team, separately from Site use, and is subject to parental consent and other applicable requirements.

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and only in ways that do not infringe the rights of any other person, restrict any other person's use of the Site, or interfere with the operation of the Site.

Inquiries and information you submit

The contact form, our email address, and our admissions phone line are intended for general inquiries, scheduling, and benefits verification. Please do not include sensitive clinical detail in an unencrypted form submission or email if you would prefer that detail be exchanged through a secure channel; if you ask, we can arrange one.

Information you submit through the Site is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. Submitting an inquiry does not guarantee admission to any program, does not guarantee insurance coverage, and does not bind The Stepwell Center to deliver any service. Admission decisions are made after our comprehensive assessment and are based on clinical, financial, and operational fit.

Intellectual property

The Site and its contents, including text, photographs, illustrations, logos, page designs, source code, audio, and video, are owned by The Stepwell Center or our licensors and are protected by United States and international intellectual property laws. The Stepwell Center name, the Stepwell mark, and related visual elements are trademarks of The Stepwell Center, LLC.

You may view, download for personal reference, and print pages from the Site for non-commercial personal use, provided you retain all copyright and proprietary notices. You may not otherwise reproduce, republish, modify, distribute, license, sublicense, sell, frame, scrape, or create derivative works from the Site or its content without our prior written permission. Automated collection of content, including by crawlers, bots, or AI training systems, is permitted only as expressly authorized by our robots.txt file and any other technical or written authorization we provide.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Site in any way that violates law or regulation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site, the servers on which the Site is hosted, or any related systems
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Site or any related system
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site, including by introducing malicious code, by sending excessive traffic, or by overloading any feature
  • Impersonate any person or misrepresent your relationship to any person
  • Submit information you know to be false, including false insurance information or false statements about a third party
  • Use the Site to harass, threaten, or harm any other person
  • Collect or harvest information about other users of the Site

Third-party links and content

The Site links to materials published by government agencies, academic institutions, major medical organizations, and other third parties. These links are provided for the convenience of readers and do not imply endorsement of, or affiliation with, the linked sites. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices. Your use of third-party sites is subject to the terms and privacy policies of those sites.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and its content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, reliability, or availability. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, free of harmful components, or that any defect will be corrected. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all such warranties are disclaimed.

Content describing clinical conditions, treatments, programs, statistics, or outcomes is provided for general educational purposes. We make reasonable efforts to keep clinical content accurate and current, but we do not guarantee that any particular statement reflects the most recent research or that it applies to your specific situation. A clinician who has assessed you is the appropriate source for individual guidance.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Stepwell Center, our affiliates, and our and their respective members, managers, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Site, including but not limited to damages for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, loss of business, business interruption, personal injury, or emotional distress, whether the claim is based on warranty, contract, tort, statute, or any other legal theory, and whether or not we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Site or these Terms is limited to the greater of one hundred U.S. dollars or the amount you have paid us, if any, in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be limited by applicable law, including liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, or gross negligence.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless The Stepwell Center and our affiliates and our and their respective members, managers, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and reasonable attorneys' fees arising out of or related to your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your infringement of any right of any third party.

Confidentiality of clinical records

Use of the Site is governed by these Terms. Your records as a patient of The Stepwell Center are separately protected by the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA"), the federal substance use disorder confidentiality rule at 42 CFR Part 2, Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 611, and other applicable laws. Nothing in these Terms reduces those protections. Our Privacy Policy describes the framework; the Notice of Privacy Practices and the Part 2 Patient Notice you receive at admission describe your specific rights as a patient.

Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The exclusive venue for any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site that is not subject to arbitration or another agreed-upon resolution process is the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Severability and entire agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other notices or consents we provide to you, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Stepwell Center regarding your use of the Site, and they supersede any prior or contemporaneous communications or proposals on the same subject.

No waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision or of any other provision. A waiver of any provision will be effective only if it is in writing and signed by us.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of the page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after a change takes effect is your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to a change, please stop using the Site.
