An estimated 23.1 percent of US adults experience any mental illness in a given year (NIMH), and 48.5 million people aged 12 or older have a substance use disorder over the same period (SAMHSA NSDUH). Across both, roughly half receive no treatment in a given year. The Stepwell Center groups what it treats into four clusters: mental health, substance use, behavioral and process addictions, and life and relationship concerns. Each is delivered in Lakeway, Texas across the same four outpatient levels of care.
Treating a condition well begins with seeing the full picture around it. Approximately 21.2 million US adults experience both a mental illness and a substance use disorder in the same year (SAMHSA), and the patterns at the edges, sleep, grief, family stress, and screen use, often shape both. Stepwell's response is the Prescribed Care Model. Every plan begins with a 2 to 3 day comprehensive assessment that integrates clinical interview, qEEG brain mapping, pharmacogenetic testing, and standardized psychological testing. The output is a written plan matched to your clinical profile.
From there, care moves along the standard outpatient continuum (ASAM Criteria). The four levels, PHP, IOP, Evening IOP, and Outpatient, support every cluster on this page. You move between levels as your needs change, with the same clinical team. All four levels are delivered at our Lakeway, Texas facility, just off Ranch Road 620 in the Lake Travis corridor.
