The Prescribed Care Model

Recognition before diagnosis.

Mental health treatment moves at the pace of recognition. Knowing what you are dealing with comes first; the care plan follows.

An estimated 23.1 percent of US adults experienced any mental illness in a recent twelve-month period, around 59.3 million people (NIMH). The Stepwell Center treats nine of the conditions that account for the largest share of that figure, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and grief. Care is delivered in Lakeway, Texas across four outpatient levels: PHP, IOP, Evening IOP, and Outpatient.

Roughly half of adults with a mental illness do not receive treatment in a given year (SAMHSA NSDUH). Closing that gap requires more than scheduling, it requires care matched closely enough to keep people engaged. Stepwell's response is the Prescribed Care Model. Every plan begins with a 2 to 3 day comprehensive assessment that integrates clinical interview, qEEG brain mapping, pharmacogenetic testing, and standardized psychological testing. The output is a written plan matched to your clinical profile, not slotted into a curriculum.

From there, your care moves along the standard outpatient continuum (ASAM Criteria). PHP is the most structured, then IOP, then Evening IOP for working adults, then standard Outpatient for maintenance and step-down. You move between levels as your needs change, without changing clinical teams. All four levels are delivered at our Lakeway, Texas facility, just off Ranch Road 620 in the Lake Travis corridor.

What We Treat

Nine conditions, nine paths.

Each card opens onto the way Stepwell approaches that condition specifically. The shared frame is the prescribed care plan; what changes is the modality mix, the level of care, and the day-to-day.

Inside Stepwell

The modalities we combine.

Specific evidence-based modalities, named in your prescribed plan rather than left implicit. Your combination is selected from these and others based on your assessment.

  1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is the primary modality for anxiety, depression, and panic presentations. Sessions identify the thought-feeling-behavior patterns that drive symptoms and rehearse new ones in structured exercises.

  2. EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is the lead modality for trauma and PTSD. EMDR works on the way traumatic memories are stored, not on the content of the trauma itself.

  3. Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT skills work supports emotion regulation across mood, bipolar, and dual-diagnosis presentations. Mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation are the four module pillars.

  4. Neurofeedback

EEG-based biofeedback calibrated to your qEEG baseline. Used alongside CBT, EMDR, and DBT for anxiety, attention, and trauma presentations, never as a standalone treatment.

  5. Group & Family Therapy

Process groups and skills groups complete the weekly mix in PHP and IOP. Family sessions are integrated when the prescribed plan calls for them, often for OCD, eating, and dual-diagnosis presentations.

  6. Case Management

Medication management, insurance coordination, and step-up or step-down planning are coordinated by your care team across the four levels of care, not handed off to outside providers.
